Lots of Girly-ness!

February 10th Candi celebrated her 6th birthday... wow! Crazy when you see last post's photo, huh? She decided that she would like to celebrate with some of her girlfriends at our house and so we planned a spa night; Joel was, of course, the one who came up with the idea... ;)

[Actually, he and the three boys made plans to go watch Star Wars -- which they had never seen -- while the girls had their party! More on that later... :)]

Candi has recently been really, really into cats (see Christmas post photo for an idea) and so when presented with whether she wanted a princess or a cat on her cake, she chose the cat! YES!!!! It was a proud mother-moment... ;)

Candi and some of her good friends here on campus: (l-r) Gisel, Alicia, Candi, Osmara, Gloria, and Keyla (Perla not pictured here).
We ordered in pizza for supper -- always a hit -- and also had Joe Mama and Mama D's other boys over so they could have a little bit of a date night... :)

The "big kid" table: Jaqui (who helped with the spa night, along with Raquel who isn't pictured here), Fede, Adam (pre-broken collar bone... ouch) and Joel.

After supper the boys pretty much vanished, so Raquel, Jaqui and I set up our spa stations: nails, hair, and foot massages!

Jaqui and Osmara at the nail station...

Raquel and Gisel at the hair station...

Some of the girls watching Ice Age while waiting their turn for a station!

Finished products: the girls modeling their fingernails with Jaqui!

About this time the boys got back and we opened gifts. The boys had a really, really hard time NOT talking about Star Wars all during their time back! They definitely liked it... ;)

Candi got a lot of really sweet cards from her friends and...

... a camera! Watch out world... she is now armed and ready!

[It's actually kind of amusing to hear the beep-beep-beep as she looks through all her photos in her room... at least the first few times were amusing! :)]

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers! My sister commented on the last post that people are (a.k.a. SHE IS :) surprised at this flurry of posting... maybe it's because of the knowledge that our lives will once again change here shortly with the coming of the baby! Whatever the reason, I have felt the need for posting and getting some of these pics out there to our family and friends... so I hope you enjoy!

Please continue to pray for CVE kids and staff as we finish up this third work team in a row, have a brief break, and then get into the March work teams... we are so thankful for the work that is being done and the friendships we make, but we also enjoy some down time!

:) I like all flurry of postings. Had to give you a hard time though. Oh, and Candi's picture is SOOOO typical. Gum, camera, she's good to go.
Thanks for the update.
