So last week I had the interesting experience of subbing for one of the primary school teachers. I teach English to the fourth, fifth, and sixth graders on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but had never had the "opportunity" to do a full day of teaching... ;)
So... I was in charge of Eli's class [Science] in which we were supposed to do an experiment. Unfortunately, the actual objective of the experiment was lost in translation as well as the exact procedure for doing it... :)
Hence... the trial and error [heavy on the "error"] process which you see detailed below:
*Food (although it was definitely old and smelly)
*Clipboard (to make me feel more professional)
*Coffee (need I say more?)
and...
A DRILL!
(yes... I felt tough carrying this into the classroom :)
A handy-man assistant!!!
Limon was amazing and offered to help out with the "gasoline" part of this experiment!
With drills, rotten food, and gasoline... are you curious yet as to what the experiment actually was? ;)
[No worries... it was completely under control. :)]
L-R: Isaac, Julissa, Nere and Marcos (third and fourth graders)
L-R: Yaneli, Daniel, Ramses and Jazany [fifth and sixth graders]
L-R: Edi, Keyla, Estefania, and Diego [first and second graders]
AND...
[nothing]
Yep.
Unfortunately there was absolutely nothing that was really that awe-inspiring; but I guess we were able to feed any pyromaniacal tendencies in the younger generation.
Whoop-dee-do.
On the other hand... for accomplishing nothing [it was supposed to explode, apparently], we still managed to have a pretty good time! :)
And then... to finish off my pics of the day, Jenna grabbed my camera to take a picture of Fede in Karla's furry vest...
One of those pictures that I'm sure he will always enjoy... ;)
It's been pretty cold down here [I know, I know... not compared to the States right now!], and I would just ask for prayers for all the people in Magdalena who are without heat, without water, and without shelter. We are so blessed to have homes and clothes and heat... and workers who help us stay that way. Thanks!
